B is for Baby It's Cold Outside

Daniel,Jack--Gen fic--Season 1

Daniel shivered.

"Why did I agree to this again?" He asked.

"Your tradition,not mine."

"You probably decorated palm trees."

"Funny." Daniel answered,teeth chattering.

"Here.hold this for me." Jack said wrapping his scarf around Daniel's neck.

"This one?"

Daniel eyed the giant tree dubiously.

"You expect me to help carry that monster?"

"That's why I brought you."

Daniel rolled his eyes and hunkered deeper into the shearling coat Jack had gifted him with as an early Christmas present.

He watched Jack chop down the tree then helped load it into the truck.

Once back inside the vehicle Jack turned the heat up and the volume on the radio too and sang along to the Christmas music.

Jack pulled into Starbucks drive-thru and ordered a coffee for his friend.

As the younger man sipped the hot liquid he was infused with a warmth not related to the java or the heater.

Half turning to Jack he smiled.

It was Daniel's first real Christmas since his parents death.

"What?" Jack asked.

"Merry Christmas."

"You too Dannyboy." Jack grinned and sang along to the Muppets Twelve Days of Christmas making Daniel laugh at his Kermit imitation.

Daniel looked out the window at the holiday lights and thought about Sha're.

Merry Christmas my love,I won't stop looking for you...I swear it.

A smile touched his lips as the first flakes of snow fell.

Daniel took that as a sign he would find her and they would celebrate their own Christmas' one day.

A squeeze to his shoulder brought his attention back to Jack.

"It's the season for miracles Danny."

"I hope so Jack."

The men grew quiet as 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' began to play.

We'll bring them home Danny,I promise you,Jack vowed as he drove them home.
